Your PapayaDisc adapts to you
The menstrual disc from PapayaCup features an innovative design and was developed by women — for the comfort we need.
- Round, smooth, and soft shape for easy and comfortable insertion and removal.
- Long, narrow retrieval stem with non-slip beads that makes removal easier. You remove the menstrual disc similarly to a tampon — only it’s much healthier and more eco-friendly.
- Leak protection so nothing goes wrong.
Our PapayaDisc is a reusable menstrual disc that sits at the base of the cervix — not in the vaginal canal like a menstrual cup. Unlike the cup, it creates no suction, which means you can have penetrative sex during your period — comfortably and without complications.

The PapayaDisc is made of 100% medical-grade silicone, is hypoallergenic, BPA-free, latex-free, phthalate-free, and completely non-toxic. It protects your intimate area without disrupting your pH balance or causing irritation.
Reusable and eco-friendly, easy to sterilize, and perfect for anyone seeking a healthy and sustainable alternative. Ideal for sensitive skin and for feeling free during your period.

Further information
MATERIAL
Our menstrual disc is made of surgical-grade silicone, manufactured in Germany. This silicone is commonly used in medical devices thanks to its durability, heat resistance, and low toxicity. It does not alter the vaginal pH and therefore does not cause infections or allergies.
The PapayaDisc – menstrual disc:
- is biocompatible with body tissue
- is hypoallergenic
- suitable for light and heavy flow
- can be worn for 8 to 12 hours
- can be used while sleeping
- lasts up to 10 years with proper care
- is free from toxins and latex
- helps prevent vaginal infections such as Candida
CARE
Take good care of yourself
Do not leave the disc inserted for more than 12 hours without emptying it. Accumulated blood can become a breeding ground for bacteria and increase the risk of TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome).
Sterilize the disc at the beginning of each new cycle, before inserting it.
During your cycle, simply empty it and rinse it with water before reinserting.
Take good care of your disc
Do not sterilize it for longer than 3 minutes — otherwise the silicone may become damaged.
At the end of each cycle, clean the disc with water and a mild soap.
You may sterilize it again afterward if you’d like, and then store it in its fabric pouch.

1. Can using the PapayaDisc menstrual disc have negative effects?
Not at all. Using the menstrual disc is very safe. It is made of medical-grade silicone – a biocompatible material suitable for contact with the body. However, it is important to follow the instructions for use, hygiene, and sterilization to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.
2. How do I choose the right size for my menstrual disc?
Our PapayaDisc is offered as a double pack in sizes S+L – so you don’t need to worry about choosing the right size. Many women find both sizes comfortable.
For more information, we recommend our size guide to find out which option suits you best. If you still have questions afterward, feel free to write to us in the website chat or via email at info@papayacup.com. We’re happy to help.
3. Is the vaginal ring compatible with the menstrual disc?
The vaginal ring releases hormones and stays in the vaginal canal for 21 days. Since the menstrual disc positions itself in the upper part of the vagina, directly under the cervix, it can theoretically be compatible. However, this depends on the size and position of the ring – and our PapayaDisc has a grip whose influence cannot be precisely predicted. Therefore, we recommend consulting your gynecologist before using both products together.
4. Does using the menstrual disc prevent pregnancy?
No. The menstrual disc is not a contraceptive. It merely collects menstrual blood – it does not prevent fertilization and does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
5. Is the menstrual disc compatible with an IUD?
In most cases, yes. The IUD is placed inside the uterus, while the menstrual disc sits in the upper part of the vaginal canal – so they generally should not interfere with each other. However, if the IUD strings are very long, they may touch the menstrual disc. It is advisable to talk to your doctor about the length of the strings and check whether the PapayaDisc is suitable in your case.
6. Can I have sex while wearing the PapayaDisc?
Yes – that’s one of the major advantages of the menstrual disc! You must, however, cut off the grip beforehand.
